When was the last time you thought about working plum into your color scheme? If it’s been a while (or never before), Benjamin Moore’s Kalamata AF-630 may be just the ticket to jump-start your creative juices.
One Color But Very Different Interior Design Styles
Very recently, I’ve specified this color in homes of very different architectural and decorating style, and both homeowners were excited to use the shade as an unexpected pop in their color schemes.
The first home was a modern structure currently under construction. Just looking at the color made the homeowner happy so we considered ways we could incorporate the color into a home full of natural limestone, porcelain tile, light-colored hardwoods and an abundance of windows.
To keep with the simple modern theme, China White PM-20 was painted throughout most of the home reserving Kalamata AF-630 for a very dramatic bedroom accent wall. The homeowner’s mother plans on creating a painting with Kalamata AF-630 as the dominate color to be prominently displayed, while the homeowner herself is scouting out various accessories in similar shades.
The second home had very traditional lines and furnishings. Much of it was painted and decorated in various shades of green with the exception of the master bath where I found plum-colored towels and silk flowers. Using that as my inspiration, we decided to paint the small water closet in Kalamata AF-630 for an unexpected, dramatic flair.
How Might You Use Deep Plum In Your Home?
If you’re interested in colors to accompany Kalamata AF-630, look no further than Benjamin Moore’s Affinity color collection. There you’ll find my favorite pairings for this warm, deep plum.
Those looking for a modern take on the color could try using Fusion AF-675 and Wish AF-680. If a traditional color scheme with an unexpected accent is more to your liking, try combining Truffle AF-130 and Mascarpone AF-20. And for those romantics at heart, Kalamata AF-630 is beautiful with Batik AF-610 and Gardenia AF-10.
However you chose to use Kalamata AF-630 in your home, do it with confidence. Whether it envelopes an entire room or is used as a distinctive accent, you’ll appreciate this color for years to come.
