Ahhh… Rust. One of the lovely colors of fall.
Using the Color Rust in Your Home
For those desiring to experiment with colors from the orange family, rust such as Benjamin Moore’s Pilgrim Foliage 2175-20, is a beautiful place to start. With very little effort it creates a warm, inviting atmosphere you’re sure to love.
Should you fear a room may feel dark or heavy painted entirely in this shade, look at the featured photo above. With generous use of white woodwork and light-colored flooring, the room feels anything but dark or heavy.
One way to utilize the color rust would be to combine it with a medium toned neutral such as Decatur Buff HC-38. Or, consider using it as an accent wall to the neutral, or painting a piece of furniture in that shade.
If you’re a color lover, try pairing Pilgrim Foliage with another bold shade such as Sweeney Yellow CW-370. Or, if you want to add cool toned touches may I suggest Night Train 1567? This gorgeous color is a three-way mixture of gray, blue and green which is striking in combination with rust.
Which ever way you choose to incorporate the color rust into your decor, do it with confidence. It’s not a shrinking violet shade and should not be treated as one. Have you used the color rust in your home? If so, do you love it? And, why?
